Last night we slept in the Grand Riverview Hotel in Phitsanulok. We sleep moderately, the bed is good, but the air conditioning is way too cold. When we have turned it off, it is much better.

During breakfast, which is very well cared for, and that we use on a small, cool terrace we get the idea to go to Phetchabun after Phitsanulok.
Tom looks a around at Booking.com where we usually book our hotels and we try to get in touch with the Kosit Hill Hotel where we have previously slept. We try to get in touch a few times today, but it just doesn't work.

The intention is to look around in Phitsanulok today and to drive to Sri Satchanalai tomorrow.
We put on our good walking shoes, unfortunately Tom has no socks with him, and we walk to a department store where we were also a long time ago, during our previous stays in Phitsanulok. We want to buy socks there. The department store is still there but there are no socks. Upon inquiry, it appears that we have to go to Topland Plaza, there they sell socks.

We pass Wat Phra Si Rattana Mahathat (วัดพระศรีรัตนมหาธาตุวรมหาวิหาร(วัดใหญ่) , a temple famous all over Thailand, where we naturally look. It is busy, and everywhere there is hassle with corona, tests, very mandatory mouth caps, washing hands, and come up with it
Tom gets scrapes at his feet and unfortunately skips the visit to the big Buddha.
After the visit to Wat Mahathat, we walk in to Topland Plaze where we indeed buy socks. We drink some lemonade, because walking makes thirsty and also buy four polo shirts for Tom.

Pia has heard from her friend Bansri that somewhere near Wat Mahathat is a famous noodle restaurant. So we walk back and after some questions we find the restaurant, the Hoika Noodle Phitsanulok Songkwae (ก๋วยเตี๋ยวห้อยขาพิษณุโลกสองแคว ). where you are eating while your legs are dangling outside. It tastes reasonable, but the most important are those dangling legs.
Along the Nan River we walk back to our hotel, it is pretty hot. We drink iced coffee and iced tea at the Café Amazon that belongs to the hotel, we sit comfortably under trees on the terrace.

A little later we walk to House of Smoke, a restaurant along the Nan River where (almost) all the food is smoked. We are the first guests and they don't sell beer, but a little later they do. And we remain the only guests.
The food tastes reasonable, the portions are very large. Pai has a chat with the owner, who blames coming changes in the COVID rules for the lack of customers.
